It has come to my attention recently that there was a bit of a scuffle in the spam thread revolving around the "you" tag. Now, I think a good handful of us know what has happened there, but some don't even want to try and go around to solving the problem. My suggestion is that we should remove the "you" tag completely, before any other incidents occur. Even if some people THINK it was a joke, it really wasn't and it was kinda cruel to add more to the fire after the initial responses.

So, all I would like to say is that the you tag must be removed and as soon as possible, because this has been bothering me for a bit now.

Thank you. Though I really think this change is good since all I want is for this community to be as happy and normal as possible without any monumentally bad things happening. The "you" tag might be one of the main reasons if we don't do anything about it.

Just imagine what would happen if our small community ends up growing to be, say, as big as RomU was. Would we have to change the site to every little request by every little dissatisfied member? Would the other members like that, or would it be harmful to the others?

I say we should poll it up and let the majority decide.

But people honestly DID attempt to explain it to Blindshot in a mature and civil manner, and all he did was retaliate even further with flaming and threats and "KILL YOURSELF." Only after that did anyone start getting nasty towards him, because he honestly did not understand and did not CARE and didn't even try to understand or even offer a modicum of decency. His problems are his own, and I agree with Hetty as far as if he didn't throw a fit over this, it would've been about something else.

As the newest (active) member, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the you tag. I have only ever seen it used on the early pages of the spam thread, and when I first saw it my initial reaction was to be a bit offended (not to mention confused, because I wasn't part of the site back then). But then I got it, and it was funny. Other than that, I've only seen it actually USED in Priom's sig, and that was in a positive light ([you] is awesome). I think it -is- funny, but I can certainly see why some people wouldn't think so.

As for where I stand on the issue, well, I don't really have any attachment to the tag and I'm kind of neutral to whether we keep it or not. I do, however, think we should be respectful of other people and things they're sensitive to, because that's just common decency (for a more extreme example, triggering content should be left in spoilers and labeled whenever it's posted, if it's posted at all). But if you go about posting ALL OF YOU SHOULD DIE AND KILL YOURSELVES, then you've thrown courtesy out of the window and you deserve whatever you get.
I am VERY against posting things along the lines of "kill yourself" because you just honestly never really know when somebody has had just the kind of day where that could really and truly push them over the edge and they'd actually do it. I know I've had days like that.
