Latest Updates: Arpegi v5.0.1 - Updated: 02/06/2024 (More patching is more patching.)
Get MagicLauncher for that.Easy to attach mods and you can change the amount of RAM Minecraft uses. I wouldn't suggest anything above 2GB though.OptiFine is a great help too. Even I use it when I don't even have to.
And closing other apps. Things like Chrome tend to resource hog when it's not active.

Updating and re-installing Java seems to have made it better, but the lag is still quite noticeable.

Press F3. Tell me your FPS.I get with my old laptop a 5 - 30 FPS. So, that's kinda laggy but playable. Anyways, you should try to mess with the settings of Optifine and allocate more memory to Java. And maybe try what Powy told, more priority to Java.

That might be playable for you but it's not for me. =/Even if I managed to make it playable for me after messing around with all kinds of settings, it's just not worth the effort. I'd rather buy Minecraft myself later on when I get a better PC (and preferably a better internet connection).
It's account bound, not computer bound. Pay once and you can play Minecraft everywhere the client is installed for life.

No Light, I'm not gonna buy you a new PC :3Too bad we won't be seeing your creativity in Minecraft then for now.
